Be warned- There will be bruising!

With every surgical procedure there is a recovery period. After liposuction cosmetic surgery, once your doctor is finished with the procedure, you will be taken to a recovery room. There, a nurse will observe you for several hours, and if all your vital signs are normal you can go home. A specially designed girdle will be placed on your body after surgery is over but while you are still asleep. This girdle will help provide pressure to the surgical sites. Luckily the girdle is made with an opening in the crotch to avoid painful removal when using the bathroom. It’s also washable.
There are many things you can do to make sure your plastic surgery is a success, but one of the most important things is drinking plenty of water. This is vital after surgery since dehydration is possible and can cause complications. Be warned, there will be swelling, some oozing, and bruising-a lot of bruising. It’s normal for liposuction surgery. Your legs will need to be elevated if your thighs or legs were operated on. Generally you should keep them elevated 6 inches above your heart for best results.
A day or two after surgery, your surgeon will want to examine your progress. At the office you will be given a clean girdle and permission to shower. After a week post op the Doctor will remove your stitches. Thankfully after two weeks most of the bruising and swelling will be gone and you will notice your clothing feels much looser. Most patients can return to work in four of five days with nominal pain. Recovery time is generally quick. One reason could be pain is minimal. Studies have revealed pain after the initial liposuction surgery is a 1 on a scale of 0 to 10.
Visible results will often be seen within one to three months, with the full affects noticeable in six months to a year.
